Microsoft announces major AI investments in Japan and Texas

Microsoft is making two large investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure. The company plans to spend $10 billion in Japan over the next two years to build data centers and expand its AI and cybersecurity operations there, working with local partner SoftBank.

Separately, Microsoft is teaming up with Chevron on a new natural gas power plant in Texas. The plant will provide electricity to Microsoft's data centers and to the local grid. The company also released three new foundational AI models, positioning itself against rivals like Google and Amazon.
