Iran attacks Gulf energy facilities as oil prices rise

Iran has intensified attacks on energy facilities in the Persian Gulf region. These strikes followed an Israeli attack on an Iranian gas field and have continued despite an Israeli pledge to spare energy sites.

The attacks have pushed the price of Brent crude oil above $100 per barrel. In response, the International Energy Agency (IEA) plans to release 400 million barrels of oil to try to combat the price spike.
