China restructures its military and monitors US ships near Taiwan

China is restructuring its military leadership, a move some analysts say could affect its plans regarding Taiwan. The Chinese military also says it is monitoring U.S. naval vessels transiting the Taiwan Strait.

Separately, the Chinese Communist Party condemned U.S. arms sales to Taiwan, and Trump said China would not take Taiwan while he is president.
