The United States conducts airstrikes against ISIS and al-Shabab in Somalia and Syria

The United States military has carried out a series of airstrikes in two different countries. In Somalia, the strikes targeted threats from both the ISIS affiliate and the al-Shabab militant group.

Separately, U.S. forces announced they conducted what they described as 'large-scale' strikes against the Islamic State in Syria.
