Bangladesh holds elections with unofficial results showing BNP leading

Bangladesh held a national election. Unofficial results and television channels showed the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leading as vote counting continued.

The BNP's Salahuddin said the party would ensure press freedom to safeguard democracy. The government also launched a 333 Helpline for the election. Some false claims circulated online, including a misrepresented old video and baseless rumors that the vote was postponed.
