The United States carries out airstrikes against ISIS and al-Shabab in Somalia and Syria

The United States military conducted a series of airstrikes in two separate countries. In Somalia, the strikes targeted threats from the ISIS affiliate and the al-Shabab militant group. In Syria, the U.S. announced it had carried out large-scale strikes against the Islamic State.
