The United States makes a payment and pledges more money to the United Nations

The United States paid about $160 million toward the nearly $4 billion it owes to the United Nations. The U.S. ambassador to the UN, Kelly Craft, said the country plans to make an initial payment on the billions it owes 'within weeks'.

President Trump said the U.S. will give the UN money to make it stronger, but also said he could 'easily' solve the organization's money problems. The UN is seeking clarity on when more U.S. dues will be paid and how much will be sent.
