Canada and France open diplomatic consulates in Greenland

Canada and France have both opened new consulates in Nuuk, Greenland. France is the first European Union country to establish a diplomatic post there.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is also planning a visit to Greenland in March. The moves are seen as a show of support for Denmark, which governs Greenland, and a way to deepen Arctic ties.
