Countries test Arctic shipping routes as Russia struggles with its northern ports

Several countries are moving forward with plans to use Arctic sea routes for shipping. South Korea's oceans ministry announced it will start a trial run of Arctic shipping routes in September, and will consult with Russia on the project.

At the same time, reports indicate Russia's own Arctic ambitions are facing challenges, with difficulties in servicing its northern ports. China has also criticized the United States, accusing it of pursuing 'selfish gains' in the Arctic region.
