China tightens export controls on dual-use items to Japan

China has announced tighter export controls on dual-use items to Japan. Dual-use items are goods and technologies that can be used for both civilian and military purposes.

Chinese officials from the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) stated the controls are a lawful response to Japan's actions and are intended to curb what China calls Japan's 'remilitarization.' They emphasized that exports for civilian use are not affected and that China firmly opposes any request from Japan to lift the new restrictions.
