Trump administration approves major weapons sales to Middle East allies

The Trump administration approved billions of dollars in new arms sales to key Middle Eastern allies. The U.S. State Department approved the potential sale of Patriot missile defense systems to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and other weapons to Israel.

At the same time, Gulf states and Turkey were reportedly warning Trump against launching strikes on Iran, fearing such an attack could lead to a major conflict. The U.S. also evacuated some personnel from a military base in Qatar.
