Sudan conflict escalates with new weapons deals and international sanctions

The war in Sudan is intensifying, with a focus on air power. One side, led by General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (known as Hemedti), is reportedly acquiring new attack aircraft and drones from Pakistan in a deal worth $1.5 billion.

At the same time, the European Union has imposed sanctions on Hemedti's brother and a militia leader nicknamed 'Abu Lulu' for their roles in the conflict.
