North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un is reelected and warns South Korea at military parade

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was reelected as the general secretary of the ruling party at a key congress. During a military parade, he warned that North Korea could 'completely destroy' South Korea if threatened and said the United States should end its hostility.

Kim's sister, Kim Yo-jong, was promoted to a party department head. South Korea's government expressed regret for past spy drone incursions into the North, which Kim Yo-jong called a 'sensible' move. Kim Jong-un also presented new weapons, including rocket launchers, and his daughter appeared in state media footage at the parade.
