EU moves to ban Russian gas and nuclear fuel, facing lawsuits from member states

The European Union has agreed to a complete ban on imports of Russian natural gas by 2027. The European Commission is also preparing a separate, complete ban on imports of Russian nuclear fuel.

Hungary and Slovakia have announced plans to file separate lawsuits against the gas ban. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico called the policy 'suicidal'. Meanwhile, the Russian state-owned energy company Gazprom has warned that gas storage levels in the EU are depleting unusually fast.
