EU leaders push to extend free carbon permits for industry

A group of ten EU member states, including Greece and led by Italy's Prime Minister Meloni, is pressing the European Commission to review the Emissions Trading System (ETS). They are asking to keep giving industry free carbon permits beyond the current 2034 phase-out date. This move aims to protect industrial competitiveness during the green transition.
