Multiple countries offer to help secure the Strait of Hormuz after Iranian attacks

Several countries have said they are willing to help protect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. This comes after a series of Iranian attacks on vessels in the waterway, which a major oil company executive called an 'act of terrorism' and a sailor described as terrifying.

In response, 22 countries expressed readiness to contribute to securing the strait. Ukraine's president asked his defense minister to explore a potential role, and Japan authorized its troops for potential mine-clearing operations. The United Nations and the European Union also indicated a willingness to participate in de-escalation and security efforts once hostilities end.
