Cambodian authorities have detained around 800 people, including a group of Japanese nationals, on suspicion of involvement in telecom fraud. Police in Japan's Fukuoka prefecture say nearly 10 of their residents are missing in Cambodia and may be connected to the scam operations.
Separately, Chinese authorities announced they have repatriated over 1,500 criminal suspects from Myanmar, where similar fraud operations have been based. The crackdowns come as regional governments warn about border tensions and work to dismantle organized fraud networks.
