Major investments and developments in Southeast Asian economies

Several major business and infrastructure developments are happening in Southeast Asia, particularly in Vietnam and Thailand. Japanese retail company Takashimaya is opening a shopping mall in a prime area of Hanoi, Vietnam, while a separate Hanoi company is selling a $1,000 coffee filter that has generated discussion.

In Thailand, the social media platform TikTok has confirmed a significant investment of 270 billion baht in the country. At the same time, Chinese automaker GWM is ending production of its ORA Good Cat electric vehicle line there as part of a broader expansion of its EV business in the region.
