North Korea's Kim Jong Un announces new nuclear plans and tests weapons

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has announced the country will soon unveil new plans for its nuclear weapons program, which he called the 'next-stage' of its nuclear deterrent. He also warned enemies would face 'excruciating mental agony'.

In recent days, Kim has overseen a hypersonic missile test and inspected the production of tactical guided weapons. His sister, Kim Yo-jong, separately demanded an explanation from South Korea over an alleged drone incursion.
