Israel carries out strikes on Tehran and Beirut

Israel launched a series of airstrikes targeting the capitals of Iran and Lebanon. The strikes hit Tehran and Beirut simultaneously, with the Israeli military saying it eliminated a senior commander of Iran's Quds Force who was in Tehran at the time.

In response, the Iran-backed group Hezbollah, which is based in Lebanon, claimed attacks on Israeli military bases. Iran had previously vowed what it called the 'complete destruction' of Israel in the region.
