Israel expands military and administrative control in the occupied West Bank

The Israeli government has approved measures to expand its powers in the occupied West Bank. The IDF has issued new orders restricting Palestinian access to land and conducted raids, while also dismissing soldiers filmed beating a detained Palestinian.

Separately, there has been a surge in violence, with two men shot dead in an East Jerusalem refugee camp. The head of the IDF stated that violence by Israeli settlers in the West Bank harms Israel and that troops must protect civilians.
