U.S. special forces and military are retraining for combat in the Arctic

The U.S. military is shifting focus to prepare for potential conflict in the Arctic region. Elite units like the Green Berets are undergoing specialized training in extreme cold-weather warfare, learning skills like survival and mobility in harsh conditions.

This effort includes plans for new Arctic security ships and concerns about Russian and Chinese activity in the area. National security adviser Jake Sullivan has raised alarms about what he calls spying by Russia and China in the U.S. Arctic zone.
