China criticizes Japanese official's comments on Taiwan, defends One China policy

Chinese officials and state media have strongly criticized remarks about Taiwan made by Japanese politician Sanae Takaichi. A spokesperson for China's foreign ministry said Japan has no right to interfere in what China considers its internal affairs regarding Taiwan, and an editorial called Takaichi's comments illegal.

Chinese diplomats, including an envoy to the United Nations, have urged Japan to correct what they call erroneous remarks. The Palestinian Authority also reiterated its support for China's 'One China' policy, which states there is only one China and Taiwan is part of it.
