Emmanuel Macron faces domestic criticism and outlines foreign policy vision

French President Emmanuel Macron is facing criticism from political figures at home, including from Christian Estrosi, a mayor from his own political camp, who said he regretted seeing Macron become increasingly isolated in his exercise of power. A mayor in La Turballe also turned Macron's portrait around in his office to protest the state of the country.

Internationally, Macron used a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos to warn against a world being divided among great powers and called for Europe to be 'respected.' He also said France wants the G7 group of nations to build bridges with the BRICS bloc of emerging economies.
