Hamas says it is ready to hand over governance of Gaza to a Palestinian committee

Hamas, the group that governs Gaza, announced it is ready to transfer control to a Palestinian technocratic committee. The group said all protocols and committees are prepared for a handover of governance.

This comes as a U.S.-led initiative called the 'Board of Peace' is moving forward. Trump, along with Jared Kushner, launched the board and is promoting a plan for rebuilding Gaza. Some U.S. allies, like the European Union, have said they could work with the board if its mandate is narrowed to focus only on Gaza.

U.S. officials have traveled to Israel to discuss the future of Gaza. Meanwhile, other diplomatic efforts continue, with Egypt calling for a withdrawal from Gaza and the reopening of the Rafah border crossing.
