Supreme Court bans NCERT textbook chapter on judicial corruption after Modi demands accountability

The Supreme Court of India has ordered a blanket ban on an NCERT Class 8 textbook containing a chapter on corruption in the judiciary. This followed Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing unhappiness with the chapter and stating that someone must be held accountable for its inclusion. The court took up the matter on its own initiative (suo motu).
