Severe storms cause damage and deaths across southern Europe

Southern Europe has been hit by a series of severe storms. In southern Italy, violent weather caused major damage, landslides, and prompted a state of emergency in some regions. In Greece, the severe weather led to at least two deaths, and in Portugal, Storm Kristin caused fatalities and widespread damage.

Separately, Italy is dealing with the aftermath of a violent femicide, where a woman was killed with multiple stab wounds. In Spain, a separate and deadly high-speed train collision killed dozens of people, leading to national mourning and a government compensation fund for victims.
