Iran has announced that Iraqi ships are exempt from any transit restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz. This allows Iraqi oil tankers to use the critical waterway.
Iraq has thanked Iran for the exemption. An Iraqi oil official said the country could restore its oil exports to pre-war levels within a week if the strait reopens, as its industry is currently at a standstill due to the shutdown.
