Japanese official says Japan could join U.S. in Taiwan rescue operations

A senior Japanese official, Takaichi, has said Japan could join the United States in conducting rescue operations for Japanese citizens in Taiwan if a crisis occurs there. Takaichi also warned that the Japan-U.S. alliance would 'collapse' if Tokyo ignored a Taiwan crisis.
