China holds annual meetings of its top legislative and advisory bodies

China's top political bodies, the National People's Congress (the legislature) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (the advisory body), held their annual sessions. These are major, scheduled political gatherings where officials meet to discuss policy and legislation.
