Denmark planned to destroy Greenland runways to prevent a U.S. takeover

According to reports, the Danish military secretly prepared a plan to blow up runways in Greenland. The plan was developed as a contingency to prevent the United States from using the airfields if it attempted to seize the territory.

Reports indicate the planning occurred around the time of a 2019 incident where then-President Donald Trump expressed interest in buying Greenland. Denmark reportedly sent explosives and elite troops to the island in January of that year as part of the preparations.
