Israeli airstrikes hit central Beirut, destroying a building

Israel carried out airstrikes on central Beirut, hitting an apartment building in the Bachoura area. Video footage shows the building collapsing after the strike, which reportedly killed 12 people.

Israel said it was stepping up strikes on Beirut and also vowed to hit, and later reportedly hit, bridges in southern Lebanon. The strikes followed an attack by Hezbollah.
