Israel says it killed Iran's IRGC navy chief in Strait of Hormuz

Israel says it carried out a strike that killed Alireza Tangsiri, the commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps navy. Israel says Tangsiri was responsible for Iran's threats to block the Strait of Hormuz, a major global oil shipping route.

Iran has not officially confirmed Tangsiri's death. The U.S. military's Central Command later confirmed the killing. The IRGC separately warned that ships attempting to transit the strait would face 'harsh measures.'
